On Saturday, May 11, kids ages 12 and under are invited to create their first fish stories that can be told for years to come at the 40th annual Bob Watt Youth Fishing Rodeo at Anchor Park. Spend the morning baiting your hook and casting your line while competing for prizes. This event is free and open to the public. Register at https://townoffarragut.recdesk.com/Community/Program beginning April 1. There are two timeslots available:8-9 a.m. and 10-11 a.m.
The Town is accepting community donations for the event, including youth and adult spincast (push button) rod and reel combos in good working condition, line, hooks, bobbers, and sinkers. Set your sights on the stars! Our Spring Stargazing event is now happening on Saturday, May 18th, from 6 PM to 11 PM. While meteor showers might not grace the skies above for us in May, the hopeful clarity of the night promises its own unique magic, ideal for stargazing.
In partnership with the University of Tennessee Physics Department, we warmly invite you to a tranquil evening of cosmic discovery and wondrous stargazing. An open sky full of stars awaits us, offering a peaceful retreat, especially after the rush of finals week.
Engage with graduate students from the Physics Department as they illuminate our understanding of the vast universe, from the intricate orbits of planets to the latest strides in astrophysics. Their expert talks and equipment they bring along are sure to enhance your experience as we all look up in wonder.
Remember to bring along your telescope, a comfortable chair, or a blanket to cozy up for the night. Admission is completely free, and while RSVPs on Zeffy are not required, they help us prepare for the number of guests to expect.
Update your calendars and plan to join us for this rescheduled stargazing journey!
Marble Springs State Historic Site is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Tennessee Historical Commission.
