The Knoxville Choral Society celebrates connection through music in "Together We Sing"

Melony Dodson talks with conductor, John Orr, about the Knoxville Choral Society's upcoming concert, Together We Sing

The Knoxville Choral Society (KCS) presents Together We Sing: Young Artists Concert, on Friday, February 20th at 7:30pm at Central Bearden Church in Knoxville. Joining the choral society for this performance will be the South-Doyle High School Singers and the KCS's 2026 scholarship winners, Caylen Judd (voice) and Adrian Peña (violin). With a theme of unity and connection through music, the program will include selections by Ola Gjeilo, Eric Whitacre, Andrea Ramsey, Will Todd, and Knoxville-based composer and pianist, Andrew Duncan.

This special concert highlights the next generation of artists while celebrating the organization's mission to promote music education, foster collaboration, and bring musicians of all ages together to create meaningful artistic experiences through song.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
