The KSO presents a "Valentine's Romance" featuring Rachmaninoff and "Romeo and Juliet"

Melony Dodson talks with Maestro Aram Demirjian and pianist, Zlata Chochieva about the KSO's February 2026 masterworks concert, Star-Crossed Lovers, featuring Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's next masterworks concert is a special program in celebration of Valentine's Day, featuring music with a romantic theme. On the program is Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, selections from Prokofiev's ballet, Romeo and Juliet, and Sergei Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, with pianist, Zlata Chochieva.

Performances are Thursday and Friday, February 12th and 13th at 7:30pm and will be given, as usual, in the magnificent Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
