KSO Finds the Magic and Humor in Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream

Matthew Motley speaks with Maestro Aram Demirjan about the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's February Masterworks program, featuring works from Ruth Crawford-Seeger, Rautavaara, Smetana, and Mendelssohn.

On February 20 and 21st at 7:30 in the Tennessee Theatre the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra continues their Moxcar Marketing and Communications Masterwork series, joining forces with several east ten collaborators to bring Felix Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” to life.

Also on the program, Ruth Crawford Seeger's Rissolty Rossolty, Rautavaara's Cantus Articus: Concerto for Birds and Orchestra, and "Vtlava" from Smetana's Ma Vlast.

A Kansas native, Matthew began his journey south by attending the University of Georgia. It was here that he got his start in public radio, working on WUGA’s classical program Night Music. After graduating in 2024 with degrees in music and computer science, Matthew joined WUOT as host of the Afternoon Concert.
