UT Symphony Orchestra celebrates the centennial anniversary of Rhapsody in Blue

Matthew Motley speaks with James Fellenbaum, Director of the UT Symphony Orchestra and guest artist Sean Chen, about their upcoming All-Gershwin Concert.

On Thursday October 13th at 4pm in Cox Auditorium, the UT Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Rhapsody in Blue with an All Gershwin concert. Guest pianist Sean Chen will join the symphony as the soloist for Rhapsody in Blue as well as Second Rhapsody.

A Kansas native, Matthew began his journey south by attending the University of Georgia. It was here that he got his start in public radio, working on WUGA’s classical program Night Music. After graduating in 2024 with degrees in music and computer science, Matthew joined WUOT as host of the Afternoon Concert.
