The Knoxville Choral Society Performs Music By Bach, Lauridsen, Beethoven, And More


Melony Dodson talks with John Orr, Music Director of the Knoxville Choral Society

The Knoxville Choral Society presents their Spring 2022 concert on Friday, April 29th at 7:30pm. Titled "The Deep Heart's Core", the program will feature Morten Lauridsen's Les Chansons des Roses, Bach's Motet VI (BWV 230), "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman, arranged by Andre van der Merwe, and other works by Haydn and Beethoven. The performance will take place at Central Bearden Baptist Church in Knoxville. Learn more in our interview with music director, John Orr.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
