  • Talia Schlanger hosts World Cafe, which is distributed by NPR and produced by WXPN, the public radio service of the University of Pennsylvania. She got her start in broadcasting at the CBC, Canada's national public broadcaster. She hosted CBC Radio 2 Weekend Mornings on radio and was the on-camera host for two seasons of the television series CBC Music: Backstage, as well as several prime-time music TV specials for CBC, including the Quietest Concert Ever: On Fundy's Ocean Floor. Schlanger also guest hosted various flagship shows on CBC Radio One, including As It Happens, Day 6 and Because News. Schlanger also won a Canadian Screen Award as a producer for CBC Music Presents: The Beetle Roadtrip Sessions, a cross-country rock 'n' roll road trip.

She’s been reporting on politics ever since the 10th grade, when she went to so many school board meetings the district set up a press table for her. Before coming to Utah, Sonja spent four years at KQED in San Francisco where she covered everything from wildfires to the tech industry. When she’s not working, you can find her skiing, camping, or deeply invested in a 1000 piece puzzle.
  • Emily Jones locally hosts Morning Edition and reports on all things coastal Georgia for GPB’s Savannah bureau. Before coming to GPB, she studied broadcast journalism at the Columbia Journalism School and urban history at Brown University. She’s worked for the Wall Street Journal Radio Network, WHYY in Philadelphia, and WBRU and RIPR in Providence. In addition to anchoring and reporting news at WBRU, Emily hosted the alt-rock station’s Retro Lunch as her DJ alter-ego, Domino.

  • Jody comes to WUOT with a strong background in public radio, leadership, and fundraising. Her career highlights include managing Blue Ridge Public Radio, a 14-station regional network serving Western North Carolina, South Georgia, South Carolina, and Eastern Tennessee, as well as experience in strategic planning and philanthropic fundraising for various nonprofits, including her most recent position as executive director of Greenville Area Parkinson’s Society in Greenville, South Carolina. Her time as a producer, reporter, and station manager has given her the birds-eye view necessary to assess what a station needs in order to grow its presence, voice, and fundraising efforts.
  • Tim has been involved in broadcast engineering for more than 30 years at commercial radio stations in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Knoxville, as well as serving as WUOT’s Chief Engineer from 1990 until 1998. In addition, Tim provides broadcast engineering service for the Vol Radio Network, which broadcasts many UT Athletic events, including UT Football games, and men and women’s basketball games. Berry says he’s thrilled to be back “home” at WUOT.

With a long-standing research interest in primate behavior and human evolution, King has studied baboon foraging in Kenya and gorilla and bonobo communication at captive facilities in the United States.
