The Oak Ridge Symphony And Chorus Offers The Community Free Virtual Concerts

orcma.org

The Oak Ridge Civic Music Association (ORCMA) offers the community a series of free virtual concerts, recorded live by members of the symphony and chorus. These concerts may be viewed from their Youtube channel or from their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OakRidgeCMA

Currently posted are two performances recorded in October by the Oak Ridge Symphony's principal brass and woodwind quintets. This Sunday, November 8th at 3pm, Maestro Allcott leads the ORS strings in a virtual concert from the Historic Grove Theatre. The Oak Ridge Chorus, led by newly appointed director, Brenda Luggie, will share their virtual concert on Sunday, November 22nd at 3pm, featuring holiday favorites, including four dances from The Nutcracker arranged for a capella choir. Additionally, the chorus will collaborate with the Roane Choral Society, the Oak Ridge Civic Ballet Association, and Arts in Motion Dance Studio, to create a video in which the dancers will dance to the combined choirs' recording of the Nutcracker Dances.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
