What happened to the women of Berlin after the end of WWII? What kind of hardships and brutality did they endure during that tumultuous time? Marble City Opera takes a look at this difficult subject through the US premiere of "City of Ashes", which is composed by Juilliard-based composer, Evan Fein and sets text by Knoxville-native, Emily Anderson.
"City of Ashes" is directed by Marya Barry, with musical direction and accompaniment provided by pianist, Brandon Coffer. Sponsored by Church of the Ascension's "Friends of Music and the Arts" series, performances will be presented at 8pm on September 12 and 13 at Church of the Ascension, located at 800 S. Northshore Drive in Knoxville. Tickets and information at http://www.marblecityopera.com
