Melony Dodson talks with Brian Salesky about the Amadeus Concert Ensemble's upcoming performance, Organ Spectacular, featuring organist, Dr. Byongsuk Moon.

The Amadeus Concert Ensemble presents an Organ Spectacular on Sunday, January 25th. The performance is free and open to the public and will be presented at 5:30pm at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Northshore Drive in Knoxville. The program will feature the cathedral's organist, Dr. Byongsuk Moon, as well as alto, Diana Salesky and trumpeters, Sarah Fellenbaum and Brett Long.

This concert will be Dr. Moon's final performance before he returns to his home in South Korea. Additionally, this will be the first time this magnificent organ will be accompanied by an orchestra. The program will consist of selections by Handel, Mouret's Premiere Suite de Symphonies, Celtic Pleasure by Hans-André Stamm, the Canticle from Respighi's Suite in G Major for Organ and Strings, Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Trumpets and orchestra, and Josef Rheinberger's Organ Concerto No.2, Op. 177.

This concert is free, but reservations are highly suggested, as these performances typically reach max capacity. Reservations can be made here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cathedral-concert-amadeus-concert-ensemble-organ-spectacular-tickets-1979398172217

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
