KSO Concertmaster William Shaub officially releases "Grit and Glitz"

On Friday, August 9th, concertmaster of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra (KSO), William Shaub, will present an official album release performance and celebration here in Knoxville. The concert will be given at 7pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Northshore Dr. Joining him for that performance will be violinist, Gordon Tsai, violist, Joshua Ulrich, and cellist, Adam Ayers.

Shaub's new recording is titled Grit and Glitz and features Loop by Carlos Simon, Cesar Franck's Piano Quintet in F minor, and the title track, Grit and Glitz by Knoxville-based composer, Dosia McKay.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
