Amadeus Chamber Ensemble's "Fiesta Espanola!" celebrates the music of Spain

Melony Dodson talks with conductor, Brian Salesky, about the Amadeus Chamber Ensemble's performance, "Fiesta Espanola!", featuring music by Spanish composers.

The Amadeus Chamber Ensemble concludes its concert season this Sunday evening with "Fiesta Espanola", a program featuring music by Spanish composers. The concert is on Sunday, May 26th at 5:30pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Northshore Dr. in Knoxville.

The program is a mix of short orchestral gems and songs for soprano solo, with orchestral accompaniment. Concertmaster, Miroslav Hristov, will be featured as soloist in Salesky's arrangement of Una Noche en Sevilla by Isaac Albeniz. Soprano, Maria Brea, will shine as the soloist in songs by Fernando Obradors and Manuel de Falla, as well as selections from zarzuelas by Ruperto Chapi, Geronimo Gimenez, and others.

This performance is free and open to the public as part of the Cathedral Concert Series. Reservations are suggested, as seating is limited. Reservations can be made online at shttps://www.shcathedral.org/

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
