The Amadeus Chamber Ensemble Presents A Tasty Buffet Of Music By Mozart

Melony Dodson talks with Conductor, Brian Salesky

The Amadeus Chamber Ensemble presents "Mozart! An Operatic Feast!" on Sunday, February 5th, 6pm at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Northshore Drive in Knoxville. This free concert will present well-known and lesser-known operatic works from fifteen different operas by the beloved Austrian composer. Soloists include some familiar names, such as soprano, Jacqui Brecheen, and tenor, Kirk Dougherty, with several Knoxville debuts, including soprano, Maria Brea, mezzo-soprano, Kara Cornell, and baritone, Aaron Keeney. Violinist, Miroslav Hristov will serve, once again, as Concertmaster of the chamber orchestra.

With so many rarely (if ever) performed operas on the program, audience members are sure to hear something new...a "feast" for the ears! This concert, which is presented as part of the Cathedral Concert Series, is free and open to the public, but reservations are suggested to ensure a seat and can be obtained online at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cathedral-concert-mozart-an-operatic-feast-tickets-502655906347

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
