Introducing Knoxville's New Professional Choir, Symphony Of Voices

There is a new professional choral ensemble in town and they are presenting their first concert this weekend! Symphony of Voices will perform at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Sunday, September 23rd at 2:30pm. The group consists of twelve professional singers who work in the Knoxville area as choral directors, teachers, and performers. Their vision is to perform a variety of styles, ranging from pop to opera to contemporary choral repertoire, which will be reflected at their inaugural concert entitled "Unclouded Day."  Four members from the group, Jaclyn Johnson, William Brimer, Matt Parks, and Paul Bryson, chat with Morning Concert host, Melony Dodson, about the creation of the group and their upcoming performance; they also sing a brief excerpt from one of their selections to entice you to come hear the rest on Sunday afternoon. More information is available on the group's Facebook and Instagram pages and also at eventbrite.com

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
