Fandango! Chamber Group To Perform In Oak Ridge

The Chicago-based chamber group, Fandango! will present a concert this Saturday night at 7:30 at Oak Ridge's Pollard Auditorium. The group, with its unusual instrumentation of guitar, flute, violin, and cello, performs a spicy mix of Latin, Spanish, Sephardic, Balkan and classical music. All four members have performed with some of the world's leading orchestras and are multi-award-winning musicians. This concert is presented as part of the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association's Chamber Series and is sure to be a performance that you won't want to miss. Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
