Culinary and cultural historian Michael W. Twitty is giving the 2020 Wilma Dykeman Stokely Memorial Lecture in Knoxville, presented by Friends of the Knox County Public Library and The Library Society of the University of Tennessee. Twitty is the author of The Cooking Gene: A Journey through African American Culinary History in the Old South. In between tour dates and trips to Africa, he carved out a few minutes to speak to WUOT’s Chrissy Keuper on the phone.
