2 Dead, Multiple Injuries After Suspected Tornado in Morgan County

Officials in Morgan County are reporting two fatalities and several injuries as a series of severe storms moved through East Tennessee last night. Extensive property damage from a suspected tornado is reported throughout the Deer Lodge and Sunbright communities.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing this morning as Emergency resources from the state of Tennessee and multiple adjacent countries have now converged on Morgan County to assist in the efforts. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has deployed its strike team to the region and is asking onlookers to stay away from the area.

An emergency Shelter has been established at Wartburg Central High School. Morgan County Schools will be closed today as a result of the storm.
