Hawkins County Sheriff Says "Emergency Situation" Was a Hoax

https://www.timesnews.net/news/crime/updated-hawkins-county-sheriff-reported-active-shooter-at-volunteer-high/article_b8cd74d8-f9d6-11eb-b1e4-2f2014d40034.html

The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office reports receiving a call before 8:00 ET on Tuesday, August 10th, that an active shooter was inside Volunteer High School in Church Hill, Tennessee.

Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson now says that phone call “appears to be a hoax.”

Responding officers arrived on the scene while dispatchers were still on the phone with the caller. No shots were fired.

Volunteer High School students were evacuated to Mount Carmel National Guard Armory. School will resume Wednesday.

The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and other law enforcement agencies cleared the scene.

One person was transported to hospital by Hawkins County EMS, but HCSO says it was unrelated to the situation and was due to illness.
