The world’s largest nuclear fusion project has been in development for more than 30 years and is now entering its assembly phase in Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France. The ITER project is also the world’s largest collaboration of scientists and researchers, including some working for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Kathy McCarthy is ITER’s US Director and is based at ORNL. She spoke with WUOT’s Chrissy Keuper about the ITER project.
