Private fusion energy researcher General Fusion is building its U.S. headquarters in Oak Ridge to be closer to its engineering partners at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The company plans to break ground next year in the United Kingdom on a first-of-its-kind commercial pilot plant producing magnetized target fusion. Jay Brister is General Fusion’s Chief Business Development Officer. He spoke with WUOT’s Chrissy Keuper about how the rapid evolution of technologies through public/private partnerships includes one of the most elusive: fusion energy.
