HealthConnections: What is "Medicare for All"?

Nine years after the Affordable Care Act got Americans thinking more deeply about health care, insurance and related topics, Democratic presidential candidates are talking about even more change. A group of proposals commonly grouped under the heading "Medicare for All" propose major changes for the healthcare industry, a significant chunk of the U.S. economy.

When surveyed, Americans are broadly supportive of Medicare-type benefits and programs. But when specifics about cost and care are raised, that support diminishes. In this edition of HealthConnections, Dr. Carole Myers explains the major "Medicare for All" proposals and talks about the difficulty of reaching consensus on such a big topic.
