HealthConnections: Health Disparities Reflected in the Pandemic

COVID-19 is affecting minority populations at a disproportionately high rate. There are number of causes, from background health problems that make a person more vulnerable to coronavirus complications, to the high number of Minorities, particularly African Americans, are also tested less frequently than white people.

On another facet of COVID-19, health risks can be heightened by economic insecurity, something millions of Americans are living through right now. Both the minority incidence of illness and the economic effects of COVID point to larger, long-standing problems with health in America.

In this edition of HealthConnections, Dr. Carole Myers provides a brief overview of what's going on, and what it tells us about larger health issues in the United States.
