Raised in Knoxville: Singer-Songwriter Anne Buckle Metcalf's Journey From Bristol To Nashville

Anne Buckle Metcalf (a.k.a. Wildwood) continues the Carter family legacy by pursuing a music career in Nashville. The great-great-niece of A.P. Carter and cousin of June Carter Cash, Anne spent childhood Summers in Bristol, Hiltons, VA, and Mountain City, TN, where she would be taught to play multiple instruments and sing on the stage of the Carter Family Fold. She began writing songs in earnest after she had her heart broken while attending the University of TN and while her journey had some detours along the way (including earning an advanced degree in Arts Administration from Harvard), she eventually returned to her country music roots in Nashville and is currently making a living as a singer-songwriter and producer. A couple of years ago, her songs took on a more Indie rock influence and she began performing under the name of Wildwood. But a return to her original stage name, Anne Buckle, may be on the horizon as she works on completing a new acoustic album.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
