The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and Chorus present a Valentine's Day concert

The Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra and  Chorus is presenting a special Valentine's Day concert, Saturday night at 7:30pm.  The concert offers a potpourri of Romantic delights with a common theme of the masterful writer about love: William Shakespeare.  The program includes Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, Suite No.2, Ralph Vaughan Williams' Serenade for Music for choir and orchestra (which sets text from The Merchant of Venice), and delectable favorites by Leroy Anderson and Cole Porter.

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
