NZ composer Annea Lockwood met Pauline Oliveiros in London in the 1960s, was persuaded by her to come to the USA, and has lived with composer Ruth Anderson in upper New York state ever since. Recently elected into the American Academy for Arts and Letters, she has always been at the forefront of the unpredictable in music that is rooted in the body, often inspired by the sounds of nature, and by the four elements: fire, water, earth, air. Charlotte Wilson talks to her about her new work being presented at Big Ears - Becoming Air with trumpeter Nate Wooley, and Into the Vanishing Point with Yarn/Wire. St John's Cathedral, Friday March 31, 1pm
