WUOT Seeks All Things Considered Host/Reporter

WUOT’s news department is looking to become an indispensable source of timely, accurate, in-depth information for a curious audience. As part of that mission, we’re searching for someone who can provide consistently high-quality reporting that adheres to public radio standards, and be an amiable companion for afternoon drive-time listeners. The job holder will also have opportunities to work with other Tennessee public radio stations and file for NPR’s Newscast Unit and news programs.

They will deliver newscasts, weather reports and traffic updates on All Things Considered, weekdays from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. They’ll get to produce interviews and feature stories that illuminate issues significant to East Tennessee. The host will also serve occasional turns on Dialogue, WUOT’s award-winning midday public affairs program. And they will get to join in the fun in WUOT’s fundraising and outreach efforts, being an ambassador for the station and for public radio in this community.

Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in journalism, English or a related field. Three years’ experience in news production or hosting (minimum) are also required.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include experience in public radio and familiarity with NPR’s ethical, narrative and production standards.
