The Oak Ridge Symphony Chamber Orchestra presents a concert of "Chamber Delights" this Saturday evening, February 11th, at 7:30pm. The program will be presented at First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge and will feature two soloists from within the orchestra: cellist, Ihsan Kartal and oboist, Ayca Yayman. Newly appointed chorus direction, Dr. Jaclyn Johnson, will conduct the Oak Ridge Chorus in Faure's "Pavane."  Also on the concert is music of Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, and Leos Janacek.  More information is available at orcma.org

In this interview, Morning Concert host, Melony Dodson, talks with soprano, Julia Lima (singing the role of Musetta) and baritone, Craig Verm (singing the role of Marcello). They discuss the opera and their characters, a little bit about themselves, and also about the changing perception of opera in modern society.

The Evelyn Miller Young Pianist Series was founded in 1980 by pianist, teacher, and visionary, Evelyn Miller, who sought to establish a concert series for young international artists early in their careers.  Now in its thirty-seventh season, the series has presented over one-hundred concert pianists from all over the world.  The 2017 season opens this Sunday, January 22nd, with pianist Chang-Yong Shin, who will present works by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Busoni, and others. The concert will begin at 2:30 and will be presented in the Sandra G.

What is American classical music? The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra answers this question by presenting a concert with incredibly diverse works, but all by American composers. Indeed, this program is representative of the melting pot that is America.

The University of Tennessee Opera Theatre is presenting an opera that is rarely performed today, Claudio Monteverdi's Ulysses, which is based on Homer's Odyssey. Performances are Friday, November 11th at 8pm and Sunday, November 13th at both 2:30 and 8pm. All performances will be held in the Carousel Theatre, located on the UT campus, next to the Clarence Brown Theatre.
