Richard And Peter John Stoltzman Will Perform In Oak Ridge

World-renowned clarinetist, Richard Stoltzman, and his son, Peter John Stoltzman, who is an incredible pianist and arranger, are presenting a concert in Oak Ridge, this Saturday evening at 7:30pm at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church. Richard is a two-time Grammy award winner, has more than forty recordings to his name, and has collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, Richard Goode, and Emanuel Ax, to name just a few. Peter John has performed all over the world with jazz, funk, and fusion artists, and is currently head of the piano program at the University of Colorado, Denver. Together, they will present a program of music by great American composers: Bernstein, Gershwin, and Charles Ives. Tickets and more information are available online at orcma.org

The father and son duo talk about their collaborative relationship, the music that they are performing on the concert, and Peter's numerous arrangements. Richard, a Cordon-Bleu trained pastry chef, talks about his favorite treat to bake: the Linzer Torte!

Melony calls the beautiful mountains of Boone, N.C., home, although she was born near Greensboro, N.C. There’s just something about those Blue Ridge Mountains that got in her blood and never left after she moved there to attend Appalachian State University (ASU). While at ASU, she majored in piano performance and music therapy and began to cultivate a love for accompanying and for collaborating with other musicians. This soon led her to earn a master’s degree in collaborative piano at the University of Tennessee, which she attended from 2006-2008.
