Alex Stokes is a comedian and author, having written a few books that he jokingly calls "bathroom books." The sort of lighthearted fare you might casually pick up and read when you only have a moment or two to spare. Stokes also works in Gatlinburg, where a bear has been visiting downtown, at times helping himself to food from unsecured trash containers. This inspired Stokes to write "The City Bear In The Smokies" -- his first children's book.
I spoke to Stokes about his work, his process, and what it's like writing a children's book as an independent author with no publisher.
