Eleanor Smeal on Modern Feminism

Eleanor Smeal describes herself as a women's rights advocate, but she's known as one of the leaders of the modern feminist movement. Smeal is a three-time president of the National Organization of Women and she's the founder of the Feminist Majority Foundation. Dialogue: Kim Trent, Executive Director of Knox Heritage

In 1974, the historic Bijou Theatre in downtown Knoxville was in danger of demolition because of neglect. On April 1st of that year, a group called Knoxville Heritage was formed and they raised enough money to save the Bijou. The group later changed its name to Knox Heritage... and the group still dedicates its efforts to preserving historic and culturally significant properties in our area.
