
Knoxville's East Side has long had a reputation as a neighborhood plagued by blight, poverty and crime. In fact, the crime rate in East Knoxville is about three times the national average. And crime typically increases along with spring and summer temperatures. But some residents of East Knoxville say they're not satisfied to sit back and hope things improve.
