Regina N. Dean has been the Director of WUOT Public Radio since 1995. During her 25-year career in public radio, she has been involved in just about all aspects of public radio, including news reporting, fundraising, grant writing and administration. Prior to joining the WUOT team, she served as General Manager of KLRE/KUAR Public Radio in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is a past board member of National Public Radio (NPR) and remains active in the public broadcasting industry at the national level. Dean is a member of the Executive Women’s Association and was a member of Leadership Knoxville, Class of 2005.
As WUOT Director, Dean is responsible for planning and administering operational, financial, programming and personnel activities of the station. She manages a staff of thirteen full-time and seven part-time employees.
During her tenure as director, WUOT has received numerous awards for excellence --- from local news programming to being cited by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as a top performing station in the public radio system. “I’m extremely proud of the WUOT staff and appreciate their hard work and commitment to provide our listeners with a quality public radio service”, she said. “WUOT is also extremely fortunate to have the loyalty and financial support of our listeners. Community support has enabled WUOT to increase our programming, expand our facilities and extend our services.”
