MOUNTAIN JUBILEE, featuring regional music, is a co-production of Jubilee Community Arts and WUOT 91.9 FM. Mountain Jubilee went on the air in April 1999. "MOUNTAIN JUBILEE allows us to explore new ways of presenting the region's traditional performing arts," said Jubilee Community Arts Executive Director Brent Cantrell. "The Upland South is home to deep and powerful music traditions, both secular and sacred. In Mountain Jubilee we try to convey something of the richness of our music. Many people think these older genre are dead, but the truth is they're just not currently trendy and thus not generally accessible in today's aggressive commercial radio market. To show that our music is indeed alive and thriving, every Saturday evening we air a recorded or live performance of regional, traditional music."
The host of MOUNTAIN JUBILEE is Paul Campbell, veteran host and producer of WUOT's long-running "Music of the Southern Mountains". He includes in the show related current or historical recordings.
