Greg Hill, left, has been named program/operations director at WUOT.
Greg has served as the station’s operations director since August 2007. His role has expanded to include the nonnews-related programming decisions formerly made by Program Director Daniel Berry, right, who retired Sept. 1.
“In today’s digital media environment, best practices place programming and operations in one department led by an individual who has the skill sets of a more traditional program director and the technical expertise required to oversee complex automation and satellite delivery systems,” WUOT Director Regina Dean said. “Greg brings a wealth of expertise to this new position. He is a capable operations director and manager, and has a strong grasp of audience data analysis, production, and other programming duties. He will do an excellent job in this new role.”
Over his 12-year career in radio, Greg has served in a variety of roles. Prior to joining WUOT, he was program/operations director at WYSO-FM in Yellow Springs, Ohio. For five years he served as operations director at the Red River Radio Network in Shreveport, La., where he also was the local host for NPR’s All Things Considered. His first job in radio was as promotions director for Gulfstar Communications.
“For over 60 years, WUOT has informed, educated and entertained listeners in East Tennessee,” Greg said. “With our rich classical music history, award-winning news department, great collection of jazz hosts, I like to think we have one of the best public radio stations in the country
“We have some tremendously-supportive listeners as well,” he said. “My goal is to maintain and grow the public radio programming our listeners have come to expect from WUOT.”
Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Originally from Alexandria, La., Greg lives in the Fountain City area of North Knoxville with his wife, Tricia, and their three children.
